Widows

We have many children in our sponsorship program who come from single parent households. The spouse often has left or passed away due to illness, leaving the widow to care for many children. Most of the time, these families live in poverty because they have no job. Simba works with widows to teach them new skills, help them stay in safe environments, and most importantly, express to them how much Jesus loves them. We also teach men and women without sponsors a tool or trade to help them build an income for their family. We may also start small businesses for them through our Stewardship pillar. This helps us look at each home situation at an intimate way like Jesus knows each one of us intimately.

Orphans

Due to the large number of parents passing away from HIV or leaving their children with relatives, most of our children come from widowed or orphan homes. The community tries its best to help these orphans, but Simba is often called upon when the children are not in school or not being provided for. We work closely with the chief of the village to identify children in need, and Simba’s social workers make a home visit to verify the orphan’s family situation. Our goal is to help find a relative to take care of them while the ministry provides the education. We are looking to restore families and bring these children to a place they can call home.
