James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
W I D O W S AND O R P H A N S
We have many children in our sponsorship program who come from single parent households. The spouse often has left or passed away to illness leaving the widow to care for many children. Most of the time these families live in poverty because they have no job. Simba works with widows teach new skills, help them stay in safe environments, and most importantly, express to them how much Jesus loves them. Also teaching woman/men in the village who don't have a sponsor a tool or trade to help them build an income for their family. We would start small businesses for them through our Stewardship point in the ministry. This helps us look at each home situation at an intimate way like Jesus knows each one of us intimately.
When we go on home visits for children to enter the sponsorship program, we see that there is a need for children who are orphaned. The Kenyan community helps the best they can,but often children who are orphans are neglected. We have multiple children in this situation, and we can keep them at the partner's school, but when the school closes these kids have no place to go. We would like to develop a home for these children, and are praying to be able to build an orphanage where children can be loved, fed, clothed, and protected even when the school is closed. If you feel called to donate to the build the orphange click here or want to get more envoled in this area please click here.
Meet Meshak. He is an 11-year-old boy we first met on the streets in July of 2016. Abandoned by both of his parents, Meshak had lived on the streets for 3 years before we took him in. After much physical and emotional healing, Meshak was entered into the Simba Sponsorship program. He now attends St. Jacob’s Private school and is thriving. We praise God for this transformation, not only externally but internally as well!

HOUSE OF ZION
“The spirit of the sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives, and release darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn and provide for those who grieve in ZION…”
God has placed a special calling on Tessa Wells, one of our long term missionaries, who will be leading this major project, called the House of Zion. "Jesus’ heart aches for the rejected, lost, and orphaned children all over the world. In Kenya alone, there are an estimated 300,000 street children. At least half of Kenya’s street children are addicted to huffing glue which helps curve hunger pains and numbs them from their own reality. The need is obvious. We feel the Lord calling us to move, to put our faith into action and care for the children in the streets of Kenya. With the pressing of this call, the House of Zion (HOZ) was born.
"The House of Zion’s Mission is to take in, support, and care for lost children with the love of Jesus Christ while encouraging them to seek God and discover their true identity and potential in Him.
"The House of Zion will be more than a shelter providing food, clothing, and security for street children. This home will aim to change hearts and lifestyles through the love of Christ. Individuals will be changed from the inside out. We are passionate about having a home like atmosphere and creating intimate relationships with each child as they heal physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Through counseling, prayer, and love we believe to witness children learn how to depend on God rather than substances.
"Our efforts in the home will prepare and equip the children for school. Once they are healed the children will be entered into Simba Educational Ministries Sponsorship Program and be given the opportunity to get an education. Although we recognize the importance of basic needs such as food, shelter, and clothing we strongly believe without Jesus we cannot be fully satisfied. HOZ will seek Jesus first and look to cultivate live with Him at the center. He is the one who saves." -Tessa

How YOU can help?
God has been guiding us and providing so much already for HOZ, yet there is still much work to be done. We need to provide a building for shelter and safety, hire a support staff, and bring in the children who are in need. Through financial support you can sow into a ministry that is aiming to change lives. If you feel so called please donate here (be sure to write House of Zion in the notes).
