"My name is Faith. I am in grade 6 and from Eldoret, Kenya. I would like go to school to get an education my family cannot afford."
Situation: Faith’s mother, Evelyn works as a cook at a nearby high school and the school informed us that she is barely making ends meet. Evelyn was married to a man that suffered from alcoholism and would sell their belongings to feed his addiction. Their tables, their chairs, even their beds. She said they had no money and often no items. They would hide their children from the local government when the government required all children to go to school because they had no way of paying for the education. Faith’s dad abandoned them a year ago and Evelyn was so scared. She said she had no idea how to feed her children and often she would be filled with anxiety and fear. After being alone, God blessed Evelyn with a small job at a nearby high school as a cook. They take part of her salary to pay for her small one bedroom home and also for her son’s schooling.
